Inflation in Bangladesh rose to 8.49 per cent in December—up from 8.29 per cent in November, backed by increases in both food and non-food prices, according to data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

Non-food inflation climbed to 9.13 per cent in December compared to 9.08 per cent in November, domestic media outlets reported.

The government has projected inflation will fall below 7 per cent by June 2026 amid tight monetary policy.

In December 2024, the inflation rate was 10.89 per cent, while food and non-food inflation rates were 12.92 per cent and 9.26 per cent respectively.
