Founded by Pete Turner as a small shop around 30 years ago, Wellgosh relocated to larger premises in the main shopping area in 1998. The family-run retailer shut down stores during lockdown and encouraged customers to shop online.

According to information listed on the UK government’s Companies House, the retail group first became involved in Wellgosh in September 2020, when JD Sports chief executive officer Peter Cowgill was appointed as a director there.
