“The House passage of the budget resolution is a critical step toward providing continued tax certainty for American families and businesses. Without congressional action, millions of Americans will face a tax hike next year,” NRF executive vice president of government relations David French said in a statement.
“The reconciliation process will allow Congress to move forward with a simple majority to protect the lower rates, increased standard deduction and small business incentives that have helped fuel economic growth since 2017,” he noted.
“NRF urges Congress to move swiftly to ensure a stable and competitive tax code that supports continued economic opportunity,” he added.
“The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act of 2025 will align efforts within a new Organised Retail and Supply Chain Crime Coordination Centre to ensure that resources and information-sharing will be available across local, state, federal and private-sector partners to bring cases and prosecutions against organized theft groups. This legislation is an important step to help prevent ORC from infiltrating local communities across the country,” French said in another statement.
According to NRF’s ‘The Impact of Retail Theft & Violence 2024’ report, 73 per cent of those surveyed say that shoplifters are exhibiting more violence and aggression than they were a year ago. Furthermore, 94 per cent retailers view federal legislation as a necessity to effectively combat this issue.
