China’s retail sales of consumer goods rose 4 per cent year on year (YoY) in the first 11 months of 2025 to ¥45.61 trillion (~$6.45 trillion), data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed.
Urban retail sales increased 3.9 per cent during the period, while rural sales grew faster at 4.4 per cent YoY. Online retail sales of goods expanded by 5.7 per cent to nearly 11.82 trillion-yuan, accounting for more than one quarter of total retail sales.
In November alone, retail sales edged up 1.3 per cent YoY. The scale of China's market sales expanded further in November, with growth in service retail sales gaining momentum, NBS spokesperson Fu Linghui said at a press conference in Beijing.
More proactive and effective macro policies, including measures to boost domestic demand and promote industrial upgrading, have supported stable economic performance, Fu said.
