The consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation rate in Germany is expected to be 3.2 per cent in November this year, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).

This is the lowest level since June 2021, when it was 2.4 per cent.

Consumer prices are expected to have declined by 0.4 per cent in the month on the October figure.

The core inflation rate, which excludes food and energy, is expected to be 3.8 per cent during the month.

The year-on-year drop in energy prices of 4.5 per cent had a particularly dampening effect on the rate of inflation in November, Destatis said in a note. A base effect due to the very high energy price level in the previous year applied here.
