Retail turnover in the Netherlands was 1.6 per cent higher in February 2025 compared to February 2024, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS). However, sales volume dropped by 0.9 per cent.

The non-food sector, including retail outside store recorded a 1.7 per cent increase in turnover, with sales volume rising by 0.5 per cent. Clothing stores, shops selling DIY products, footwear and leather products and home furnishings recorded a decline in turnover, as per CBS.

Online retailers saw a 3.8 per cent year-on-year increase in turnover in February. Businesses primarily focused on online sales experienced a 6.9 per cent rise in revenue, while multi-channel retailers, those offering online sales as a secondary activity, recorded a 1.4 per cent decline.

CBS adjusted the retail turnover figures to account for calendar differences. Without this adjustment, retail turnover in February 2025 would have been 0.5 per cent lower than in the same period last year.
