India’s Haryana state recently signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Walmart Vriddhi and Maharashtra-based company Haqdarshak, which digitizes and codifies welfare schemes data building a rich repository of government services in local languages. The aim is to ensure a pathway for products by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to the global market.

The MoUs were signed in Chandigarh in the presence of state deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala who holds the industries portfolio.

Walmart Vriddhi is a comprehensive growth and training programme of the US-based company that helps MSMEs modernise and scale their businesses for domestic and international markets.

Chautala said the state is giving priority to setting up industries in rural areas, which will stop the migration towards cities while village artisans will contribute to strengthen the rural economy, according to media reports from the state.

He asked Haqdarshak chief executive officer Aniket Doegar to prepare a research report on the best running welfare scheme of each Indian state so that Haryana, under its 'One-Block, One-Product' scheme, can work out the possibilities of implementing them.

Vikas Gupta, director general of the state’s MSMEs department, said that after signing of MoU with Walmart, MSME products from the state will be displayed in 24 countries and will be available in 10,500 stores under 48 banners. MSMEs would also be offered training from industry experts.
