The general point-to-point inflation rate in Bangladesh eased slightly to 9.41 per cent in December last year, primarily due to the downtrend in food inflation. The rate in November was 9.49 per cent, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The rate in rural areas slightly declined to 9.48 per cent in December, down from 9.62 per cent in November.

The rate in urban areas also declined marginally to 9.15 per cent in December from 9.16 per cent in November.

The point to point non-food inflation increased slightly to 8.52 per cent in December last, up from 8.16 per cent in November, a domestic news agency reported.

The national wage index rate in December was 7.74 per cent, up from 7.72 per cent in November.
