The slight decline was primarily attributed to a drop in non-food inflation.
The general inflation rate was 8.48 per cent in June this year.
The August inflation rate was the lowest in the last 37 months. Inflation was 7.48 per cent in July 2022, according to BBS data. Since then, the rate never went below 8 per cent.
Point-to-point non-food inflation dipped to 8.9 per cent in August from 9.38 per cent in the preceding month, domestic media outlets reported.
Inflation in both rural and urban areas also recorded slight decreases during the same period.
