UK consumer price index (CPI) increased by 3.6 per cent year on year (YoY) in October this year—down from a 3.8-per cent YoY rise in September, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

It increased by 0.4 per cent month on month (MoM) in October compared with a MoM rise of 0.6 per cent in October 2024.

Core CPI (excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco) rose by 3.4 per cent YoY in October—down from a 3.5-per cent YoY rise in September.

The CPI goods annual rate fell from 2.9 per cent to 2.6 per cent in October 2025, an ONS release said.

The CPI for clothing and footwear increased by 1 per cent MoM and 0.3 per cent YoY in October this year.
