China's CPI sees modest increase in January: NBS

The figure was up from the 0.1-per cent increase registered last month, largely due to the influence of the Spring Festival holiday, said NBS statistician Dong Lijuan.

The core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose by 0.6 per cent YoY in January, up from the 0.4-per cent YoY increase recorded in December 2024.

The country's producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, went down by 2.3 per cent YoY in January, flat with that in December last year, a state-controlled news agency reported. It dropped by 0.2 per cent MoM in the month.
