China's retail sales up 2.1% YoY in Aug, 3.4% YoY in Jan-Aug 2024

Retail sales of consumer goods in China rose by 2.1 per cent YoY in August, official data show.
In the first eight months this year, such sales increased by 3.4 per cent YoY.
Rural consumption increased by 3.9 per cent YoY last month.
Online sales rose steadily by 8.9 per cent YoY in the eight-month period.
Sales of physical goods rose by 8.1 per cent YoY.

Retail sales of consumer goods in China rose by 2.1 per cent year on year (YoY) in August this year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

In the first eight months this year, such sales increased by 3.4 per cent YoY.

Rural consumption increased by 3.9 per cent YoY last month, official data showed.

Online sales rose steadily by 8.9 per cent YoY in the eight-month period, a state-controlled media outlet reported.

Sales of physical goods, in particular, increased by 8.1 per cent YoY and accounted for a quarter of the total retail sales.
