Dutch CPI Inflation decreases to 3.3% YoY in Jan: CBS

The January inflation rate is the same as the flash estimate published on February 3.

In December last year, the inflation rate stood at 4.1 per cent.

Prices for consumers fell by 0.2 per cent in January relative to December.

Changes in the price of energy caused inflation to fall. Energy was 4 per cent cheaper YoY in January. In December 2024, energy prices were still 0.5 per cent higher YoY, a CBS release said.

CBS publishes two different inflation rates: one is based on the consumer price index (CPI) and the other is based on the European harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP).

According to the HICP, consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 3 per cent more expensive YoY in January this year. In the January flash estimate, published on February 3, inflation was 2.9 per cent, according to the HICP.

In December, the Dutch HICP inflation rate was 3.9 per cent.
