In April, the inflation rate stood at 4.1 per cent. The May inflation rate is the same as the flash estimate published on June 3.
Prices for consumers fell by 0.5 per cent in May relative to April, a CBS release said.
CBS publishes two different inflation rates: one is based on the consumer price index (CPI) and the other is based on the European harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP).
According to the HICP, consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 2.9 per cent more expensive YoY in May. In the flash estimate for May, this was 3 per cent. In April, inflation was 4.1 per cent, according to the HICP.
HICP inflation in the euro area as a whole fell from 2.2 per cent in April to 1.9 per cent in May.
