Dutch retail turnover down by 0.7% YoY in June: CBS

Calendar-adjusted Dutch retail turnover was 0.7 per cent lower year on year (YoY) and sales volume was down by 1 per cent YoY in June this year, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS).

Without calendar adjustment, retail turnover in June would have been 2.4 per cent lower than a year earlier.

Turnover in the non-food sector (including retail not in shops) increased by 0.2 per cent, while sales volume (turnover adjusted for price changes) was up by 0.9 per cent YoY.

Shops selling footwear and leather products, furniture and home furnishings, and clothes recorded a decrease in turnover.

Online retail turnover increased by 2.2 per cent YoY in the month, while online retailers, whose core activity is selling goods and services over the internet, recorded an increase in turnover of 9.2 per cent.

Meanwhile, multi-channel retailers, retailers selling goods and services over the internet as a secondary activity, saw turnover in their online sales fall by 6.1 per cent YoY in June, a CBS release said.

Online turnover for clothing and fashion items decreased YoY in the month.
