Dutch retail turnover over 3.1% up in Sept: CBS

The Dutch retail sector recorded a 3.1 per cent year-on-year (YoY) turnover growth in September this year. The volume of sales decreased by 3.3 per cent, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS).

Turnover in the non-food sector was down by 2.4 per cent YoY, while the online retail turnover increased by 0.9 per cent YoY.

The volume of sales (turnover adjusted for price changes) in September decreased by 6.4 per cent YoY.

If the shopping-day pattern is not taken into account, retail turnover in September was 3.4 per cent higher YoY and turnover in non-food sector over 2 per cent down, CBS said in a release.

Shops selling clothes, footwear and leather products recorded a decrease in September.

Web shops recorded a turnover increase of 4.7 per cent; their core activity is selling goods and services over the internet. However, multi-channel retailers achieved 8.1 per cent lower turnover in online sales in September.

The online turnover of clothing and fashion items was lower YoY.
