French consumer price index (CPI) rose by 1.3 per cent year on year (YoY) in November this year after a 1.2-per cent YoY rise in October, according to preliminary provisional estimates by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE).

This near stability in inflation should result from a slowdown in prices of food offset by an acceleration in prices of services and a less marked fall in prices of energy compared with October, an INSEE release said.

Over a year, the prices of manufactured products in November moved at similar rates to the previous month.

Consumer prices decreased by 0.1 per cent month on month (MoM) in November after a 0.3-per cent MoM rise in October, the provisional estimates show.

This slight decrease should be explained by that in prices of services, mainly those of transport. The prices of food and manufactured products should be stable compared to October and those of energy should rise slightly in November.
