Indian clothing-footwear inflation at 2.28% in Sept: Provisional data

It is the lowest YoY inflation rate after June 2017, a release from the ministry said.

There was a decrease of 53 basis points in headline inflation of September 2025 compared to August.

A decrease in headline inflation in the rural sector was observed in September, in which the headline inflation was 1.07 per cent (provisional), while it was 1.69 per cent in August this year.

Urban headline inflation decreased from 2.47 per cent in August 2025 to 2.04 per cent (provisional) in September.

YoY clothing and footwear inflation rate was 2.28 per cent (provisional) for September.

YoY fuel and light inflation rate was 1.98 per cent (provisional) for September and 2.32 per cent for August this year
