Inflation in Bangladesh rose to 11.38 per cent in November, the highest in four months, due to stubbornly high food prices despite import tax cut for a number of essential items over the last three months.

In October, overall inflation was 10.87 per cent.

Non-food prices edged up to 9.39 per cent in November from 9.34 per cent the preceding month, data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) showed.

In November, inflation was 11.53 per cent in rural areas (compared to 11.26 per cent in October) and 11.37 per cent in urban areas (10.44 percent in October), according to domestic media reports.

The wage rate index in November was 8.1 per cent, while it was 8.07 per cent in October.
