J. Crew posts FY19 revenue of $2.5 billion

J.Crew Group, an omni-channel retailer of women's, men's and children's apparel, shoes and accessories, posted 2 per cent revenue growth to $2.54 billion in fiscal 2019 that ended on February 1, 2020 compared to $2.48 billion in prior year. Fourth quarter (Q4) FY19 revenue rose 2 per cent to $747.2 million compared to $733.7 million in Q4 FY18.
 
"Our fourth quarter and full year results reflect exciting progress at J.Crew, driven by strong gross margin performance and the accelerated benefits from our multi-year cost optimisation programme, as well as continued growth at Madewell,” Michael Nicholson, president, chief operating officer, said in a press release.
 
Gross profit in FY19 were $964.12 million compared to $835.66 million in prior year. Sales, general and administrative expenses (SG&A) in the reported year increased from $824.03 million in FY18 to $879.03 million in the reported fiscal. Operating income was $71.5 million compared to $0.9 million prior year. Net loss reported over the year was $78.8 million compared to $120.1 million prior year. 
 
J.Crew sales in 2019 decreased 4 per cent to $1.70 billion. However, Madewell sales increased 14 per cent to $602.4 million. 
 
Net income in fourth quarter was $1.5 million compared to net loss of $74.4 million in same period prior year. 
 
Revenues of J. Crew in Q4 FY19 fell 2 per cent to $747.2 million. Madewell sales jumped 13 per cent to $178.1 million in the quarter.
