Turkiye’s general consumer price index (CPI) increased by 1.53 per cent month on month (MoM) and 35.41 per cent year on year (YoY) in May this year, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat).

It rose by 15.09 per cent compared to the figure in December 2024, and on a twelve-months moving averages basis, it increased by 45.8 per cent in the month.

The CPI for clothing and footwear rose by 14.12 per cent YoY and by 6.97 per cent MoM in the month, a Turkstat release said.

The contribution of clothing and footwear to the monthly and annual rise in general CPI in the month was 0.41 per cent and 0.93 per cent respectively.
