UK retail sales volumes are estimated to have risen by 0.4 per cent month on month (MoM) and 2.6 per cent year on year (YoY) in March 2025, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

This follows a MoM rise of 0.7 per cent in February.

Such sales volumes rose by 1.6 per cent quarter on quarter (QoQ) and by 1.7 per cent YoY in the first quarter (Q1) this year, an ONS release said. This was the largest three-monthly rise since July 2021.

Volumes were down by 0.3 per cent, compared with their pre-pandemic level in February 2020.

Clothing retailers—the subsector with the strongest growth—reported good weather boosted sales, while supermarket sales dropped in March.
