Variation of Spain's RTI at constant prices between Jul, June -0.7%

The monthly variation of Spain’s retail trade index (RTI) at constant prices between July and June was minus 0.7 per cent after seasonal and calendar adjustment, according to the country’s National Statistics Institute (INE). This rate was four tenths lower than the previous month. The general index, excluding service stations, recorded a monthly rate of minus 1.1 per cent.

The annual rate of the general RTI at constant prices stands at minus 0.5 per cent in the seasonal and calendar adjusted series and at minus 3.3 per cent in the original series.

All distribution classes showed negative monthly rates, except for small chain stores, which increased (0.1 per cent). Single retail stores registered the highest decrease (minus 2.2 per cent).

In July, the general RTI, once adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, registered a variation of minus 0.5 per cent compared with the same month of the previous year. This rate was 1.2 points lower than the one registered in June.

The original RTI series at constant prices registered an annual variation of minus 3.3 per cent—3.7 points below the rate of the previous month.
