Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.34 per cent month on month (MoM) and by 2.91 per cent year on year (YoY) in February this year, according to the general statistics office.

Nine groups of goods and services witnessed price hikes, of which transportation recorded the largest rise of 0.63 per cent.

The housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials category ranked second—up by 0.55 per cent. The apparel-hats-footwear category was the only category of goods that saw a downturn in price.

Core inflation in February inched up by 0.3 per cent MoM and by 2.87 per cent YoY.

Core inflation in the first two months this year increased by 2.97 per cent YoY—lower than the average CPI of 3.27 per cent.
