Vietnam's CPI up 3.25% in 2023; 10 among 11 commodity groups see hikes

Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) this year is estimated to rise by 3.25 per cent year on year (YoY), meeting the target set by the national assembly, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The index in the fourth quarter this year went up by 3.54 per cent YoY, and in December, it increased by 0.12 per cent month on month (MoM) and by 3.58 per cent YoY, GSO head Nguyen Thi Huong told a press conference.

Among the 11 commodity groups, 10 witnessed YoY hikes, she was quoted as saying by a domestic news agency.

Petrol prices dropped by 6.94 per cent YoY in 2023.

The core inflation in December also inched up by 0.17 per cent MoM, and by 2.98 per cent YoY, leading to the yearly average growth of 4.16 per cent.
