Now in bankruptcy proceedings, Dallas-based department store chain Neiman Marcus recently said in a court filing that it is vacating the glitzy Hudson Yards shopping mall on Manhattan’s West Side in New York. It is also closing two stores in Florida—Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach —and one in Bellevue, Washington. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on May 7.

“We are always assessing our store footprint to ensure it is optimal to enhance revenues, overall profitability, and our integrated retail strategy,” the spokesman said.

“These store closures will help ensure the continued long-term success of our business and underscores our unrelenting focus on providing unparalleled luxury experiences and engagement,” the spkkesperson was quoted as saying by US media reports.

“A physical location in Hudson Yards is no longer an ideal space for us given the preponderance of restaurants and future office space in that mall,” he added.
