Madhya Pradesh Silk Federation (MPSF) proposes to capture South Indian market, especially Tamilnadu (TN); the federation would market its products through private textile dealers, said Sandeep Saxena, Managing Director of Federation.
Some private dealers are ready to market Chanderi and Maheshwary sarees, which are light weight and eco-friendly.
A textile chain store in the city has also placed order worth Rs10 lakh and promised to continue placing orders, he said.
Madhya Pradesh is one of the non-traditional states for sericulture; however, it is now producing all three varieties of silk namely Mulberry, Tasar and Eri.
Tamilnadu provides ample potential for Tasar sarees, but at present, only Mulberry silk would be available, said Saxena.
If the federation is successful, it would plan to open its showroom in Tamilnadu, said Saxena.
