US imports more high-end silk garments from China

The United States imported 28.14 million pieces (sets) of silk garments from China during the first seven months of the current year, registering an increase of 35.79 percent year-on-year.

The value of imports stood at US$ 278 million, up 1.91 percent year-on-year during the January-July period. Average unit price, however, fell 29.95 percent year-on-year to US$ 9.87 per piece (set).

Volume-wise, the US imports of silk garments accounted for 14.28 percent of the total Chinese silk garment exports. Value-wise, the US imports formed 39.67 percent of the total Chinese silk garment exports, reflecting more high-end imports by the US.
