Romanian imports of Chinese silk commodities surge

A surge has been witnessed in the imports of Chinese silk commodities by Romania during the first three quarters of 2011.

From January to September this year, Romania imported 529.09 tons of silk items from China, registering a year-on-year increase of 51.51 percent.

The value of these imports stood at US$ 28.019 million, a year-on-year rise of 114.49 percent.

The average unit price of silk products too increased by 41.57 percent y-o-y to US$ 52.98 per kg.

Romania's imports accounted for 5.23 percent and 4.13 percent of the total Chinese silk commodities exports by value and volume, respectively.
