Chinese silk garment exports grow in volume, fall in value

Chinese exports of silk garment in January rose in volume, but fell in value.
 
China exported 24,259,700 pieces (sets) of silk garments in January 2013, a year-on-year growth of 23.66 percent, while exports value registered US$ 125 million, down 6.14 percent year on year.
 
The top five markets of China's silk apparel exports were the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy and France.
 
However, exports to the five markets declined year on year in value. To the US, it fell by 17.07%, to Hong Kong by 15.02%, to Japan 14.18%, to Italy 28.6% and to France by 24.86% year on year.
