China's silk garment exports skyrocket in Feb'13

The export of silk garments from China skyrocketed in February 2013. During the month, China exported 27.401 million sets of silk apparels, registering an increase of 251.43 percent year-on-year.
 
In terms of value, the exports fetched US$ 103 million, showing a rise of 96.56 percent year-on-year.
 
In January-February 2013, China’s total silk garment exports stood at 51.661 million sets, up 88.44 percent year-on-year. In terms of value, these exports earned US$ 228 million, up 22.95 percent year-on-year.
 
The US, Hong Kong, Japan, France and Italy were the top five markets for Chinese apparels in terms of value, during the two-month period. While exports to the US increased by 5.85 percent year-on-year, those to France rose by 9.28 percent year-on-year.
 
However, exports to Hong Kong, Japan and Italy declined by 14.82 percent year-on-year, 2.01 percent and 10.99 percent, respectively.
