To increase non-mulberry silk production, Central Silk Board (CSB) is trying to convince corporates for entering into public-private partnership programme (PPP). This initiative is taken as part of study conducted by CII and IIM on sericulture industry.
According to sources, ITC, Reliance and Godrej are interested in sericulture industry especially for Vanya silk.
Jayant Oil Mills, which promotes ericulture, has signed an MoU with CSB for PPP model. CSB also signed an MoU in association with Indo Silk for setting up spinning mills at Hindupur in Anantapur district. Approximately 100 ton of eri cocoons are expected to be produced this year through this partnership.
Vanya silks lend technological support to ericulture so that fiber of material does not lose its natural characteristics.
