According to the Customs statistics, China's silk export to India valued US $283.3 million from January to September, down 9.02 percent from the same period of last year with a market share of 10.11 percent.
China's silk goods exported to India are mainly in two categories, including silk and pure silk fabrics. The total merchandise export of the two types registered $282.7 million from January-September, accounting for 99.77 percent of China's silk products exported to India.
Situation of China's silk products exported to India:
China exported 63.06 tons of silk products to India from January- September, 28.45 percent below the same period of last year with value amounted to $168 million, down 3.61 percent on a year- on -year basis.
India is China's largest export market for silk products, but the market share has declined. China's export volume and export value accounted for 39.34 percent and 41.04 percent in January- September last year, but reduced to 32.28 percent and 33.8 percent in January to September this year.
From January to September, the average price of silk products exported to India reached $26.61 per kg, an increase of 34.71 percent from the same period in 2005, slightly higher than the export price in global markets on average.
The main categories of silk merchandise export to India by volume are followed by silk spinning yarn, filature silk, Douppion silk, tussah silk, twist silk, with silk spinningyarn takes more than half of the export.
