Poor quality Chinese silk causes misery to weavers
24 Nov '06
1 min read
The Indian weavers are prominent for their artistic Banarasi and silk saris.
The weavers of Karnataka, Varanasi and some parts of West Bengal are in a miserable condition due to import of cheap quality of silk from China.
The import of inferior Chinese silk fabric has ruined the weavers of India, especially of Banaras and its adjoining districts.
The weavers insist the Government to put a complete ban on import of Chinese silk fabric to India.
