Assam Munga silk journeys to MP!
15 Dec '06
1 min read
Assam is famous for its Golden Yellow 'Munga' silk saree.
Madhya Pradesh government has decided to experiment on the production of the same variety of silk in its hill station Pachmarhi.
Around 2,000 'Som' plant seeds were brought from Assam and sown in nursery in May.
Munga silk worm responsible for the development of this variety of silk has also been brought to the hill station.
These silk worms would be fed the leaves of the som plants.
State government is hopeful about the success of this experiment.
