Union Government's Silk Board Act 2006 is anti-farmer legislation, alleged a senior leader of Karnataka Rait Sangh, G C Bhairareddi.

According to him, Silk Board Act 2006 is going to harm interests of more than 35 lakhs families of farmers in the State which produces 60 percent of total silk produced in the country.

He told that silk market would see multi-nationals and private players in buying and selling of raw materials and farmers will be exploited as prices will be determined by private buyers.

Due to this, farmers will have to sell outside APMC where farmers are not sure of getting money for sold materials, he added.
