Silk industry blooms in 2007

According to the statistics (after trim) of above-scale silk enterprises by the National Statistics Bureau, China completed 81,000 tons of silk output in January to July, up 10.08 percent over the same time last year. China's silk fabrics production (including synthetic silk fabrics) achieved 4.81 billion meters, up 2.67 percent over the same period prior year.

Silk production grew 10 percent, extending its growth in a row for nine years, which was started from the low level of 1998. Its growth has remained stable and healthy without big ups and downs during the period.

In January to July, Zhejiang produced 27,240 tons of silk output, down 2.58 percent from the same time last year (same below); Jiangsu produced 17,000 tons, up 13.74 percent; Sichuan produced 15,381 tons, up 33.95 percent; Guangxi produced 5,449 tons, up 46.61 percent; Chongqing produced 4,176 tons, up 15.98 percent; Shandong produced 3,618 tons, up 13.82 percent; Anhui produced 2,448 tons, an increase of 25.35 percent.

Silk production of the seven main producing provinces together totaled 75,312 tons, accounting for 93.03 percent of the country's total output.

From the beginning of the year, the state adjusted part of export tax rebate rate, of which export tax rebate rate of spun silk yarn has been cut percentage points, that is to say, the export tax rebate rate of spun silk yarn is two percent lower than that of white steam filature yarn.
