The Biology Technology College of SouthWest University, after two years of research has developed six colored silkworm cocoon in orange, pink, light yellow, light green, rust and white, through gene change.
These were showcased in an exhibition which held in Chongqing city. The event was organized by the University itself.
Earlier, China produced the natural color cocoon by feeding pigment food to silkworm. But now, the new color cocoon is produced by SouthWest University will be healthy and improved one than the earlier ones. These will also help in protecting the environment and these will not discolour in the long run.
