Shanxi-based Ankang Filature Factory announced on July 28 that it had successfully started producing natural colored silk from the colorful cocoons.

In 1998, the Vice Professor of Ankang University, Hu Bili, found intriguing wild silkworm in Ankang area. After over 10 years' of research and cultivation, experts have finally developed natural colorful cocoons, including, golden, orange, yellow and green cocoons.

This is a major step for silk industry as now beautifully natural colored silk can be produced, without the use of synthetic chemicals and dyes.

It has been noted that production of these chemicals causes immense pollution and they may also harm human skin and body.

Thus, analysts have no doubt that products made of this silk will be very popular in both domestic as well as international markets.
