Syensqo intends to introduce EO-based solutions made with Shell Chemicals’ lower-carbon feedstocks, which deliver up to 51 per cent lower carbon footprint versus conventional EO, enabled through the use of carbon capture utilisation (CCU) credits via a mass-balance approach.
Verified under the ISCC Carbon Footprint Certification (CFC), these drop-in solutions allow customers to reduce the carbon footprint of their formulations without requalification, while maintaining performance, quality, and supply reliability.
“Customers are under increasing pressure to reduce the carbon footprint of their products without compromising performance or supply reliability,” said Chloé Masselon, Sustainability Director at Syensqo. “Combining certified low-carbon feedstocks with drop-in compatibility, these solutions offer a practical and immediate way to decarbonise formulations at scale while meeting evolving regulatory and market expectations.”
This initiative supports Syensqo’s One Planet ambition to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions in Focus 5 categories by 25 per cent by 2030 compared to 2021 levels. It also demonstrates that reducing value chain emissions requires collaboration across the ecosystem, from raw material suppliers to ingredients providers to finished goods manufacturers.
