Sibur launches catalyst production project in Tatarstan

The creation of its own production of catalysts for base polymers will allow SIBUR to create a full cycle of innovations in the industry from laboratory developments to the industrial production of modern synthetic materials.

About 90% of the processes in the petrochemical industry require the use of catalysts. 

The first facilities for the production of chromium catalysts will be built within the framework of the project. Investments in this production alone will amount to more than 11 billion rubles. A total of 6 production lines will be launched. 

SIBUR will provide a full cycle of development and production in the chain of production of polyethylene and polypropylene. The volume produced will ensure the technological independence of the production of base polymers in Russia.

The volume of production in 2024 in Russia and the CIS countries amounted to 7.9 million tons, and by 2030 this figure may more than double.
