EU's rail transport hits 398 bn tkm in 2022

Looking in detail, rail freight performance saw a clear recovery in all quarters of ****, with the highest growth rate being observed in the second quarter of **** at ** per cent, followed by the third quarter at * per cent. In the first and second quarters of ****, performance increased by * per cent and * per cent, respectively, compared with the same quarters of ****. This was followed by a third quarter with no change in performance and then a clear drop of * per cent in the fourth quarter, according to Eurostat.

In terms of tonnage, ** out of ** EU countries with rail transport registered decreased in **** compared with ****. The highest decreases were observed in Lithuania at -** per cent, Estonia at -** per cent, Finland at -** per cent, and Greece at -** per cent.
