26% UK businesses report turnover lower in Apr compared with Feb: ONS

  • Twenty-six per cent of UK businesses reported their turnover was lower in April compared with the February figure, while 16 per cent reported their turnover was higher, according to a survey by the Office of National Statistics.
  • Eighteen per cent of trading businesses expect to raise the prices of goods or services in June—down from 23 per cent for May.
Twenty-six per cent of UK of businesses in a survey conducted by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) reported their turnover was lower in April this year compared with the February figure, while 16 per cent reported their turnover was higher in April. Both these figures were 19 per cent in March.

In early May, 21 per cent trading businesses expected turnover to rise in June this year—up from 19 per cent for expectations for May.

Thirty-five per cent of trading businesses reported an increase in the prices of goods or services bought in April compared with March—down from 38 per cent when comparing March with February, an ONS release said.

When looking ahead, 18 per cent of trading businesses expect to raise the prices of goods or services in June—down from 23 per cent for May.

Seventeen per cent of trading businesses reported their overall performance increased in April this year compared with the same month last year.
