Chemnitz University of Technology is all set to host Sustainable Textile School 2017 in order to establish a global textile engineering platform. It aims to form a marketplace for innovation and increase awareness on sustainability in the textile industry. The three-day textile school event will begin from September 18, 2017 in Chemnitz, Germany.

An environmental innovation prize will be awarded during the Sustainable Textile School 2017 which will be hosted by the university in association with Gherzi Textil Organisation. The focus of the assessment for environmental innovation is on a cost-saving and environmentally friendly process, which can simultaneously produce high-quality textile products. Aspects of environmental friendliness, pollutant emissions during production and the circulatory capacity also play a role in the assessment.

The programme will help students and professionals from all branches of the textile industry to have a close look at all value-added stages under the focus of sustainability. There are several social and ecological pitfalls within the textile value chain. The Sustainable Textile School will address those issues and will come up with innovative, social and eco-friendly solutions. Further, there will also be theoretical and practical sessions on sustainability where experts from the industry and science will share their views with the participants. (RR)
