At the recent Carpet Recycling UK conference, founder member Green Recycling Group announced the launch of a new nationwide baled carpet collection service and drop-off points, starting with immediate effect and rolling out more sites over the next few months. It is designed to help improve the national UK coverage of places where carpet can be taken as an alternative to landfill.

Carpet Recycling UK members currently operate from more than 35 sites and this initiative will mean that many more people will have local access to a carpet disposal/ recycling service. Details of all the new sites accepting carpets will be included in the Specialist Carpet Recyclers listing on the CRUK website over the coming months.

Green Recycling Group will ensure that no carpets are landfilled and that both energy recovery and material recycling play their part in achieving zero landfill.

Longer term plans for 2013 - 2014 include the installation of a new UK plant for conversion of carpets to biofuel.
