The Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers' Union (SACTWU) has settled its 2012 wage negotiations dispute in the Non-Woven textiles sector.

Workers in the non-woven textiles sector will be receiving a 6.76% package increase. The agreement was reached in a dispute Conciliation meeting on the 26th July 2012 under the auspices of the National Textile Bargaining Council.

The agreement will be backdated to the 1st July this year and is nationally applicable.

Sactwu is the biggest union in the clothing, textile and leather industry in South Africa, with 99 000 members at the end of June 2010. This allows SACTWU to represent members more effectively. We negotiate wages for the vast majority of workers in the clothing, textile and leather industry, and our agreements cover more than 100 000 workers.
