Working in collaboration with Aditya Birla Group, Burapha University, Hankuk Carbon, and Luxara Design Studio, Cobra has developed a breath-taking range of furniture that combines beautiful product design and lower impact raw materials. The collection features the Liana meeting table and the Loop barstool, both of which showcase the strength of composites and the future potential of recyclable epoxy resins and production waste derived raw materials, the company said in a press release.
Every production step, from the shaping of foam cores to the application of the final protective topcoat, has been expertly made by the craftsman at Cobra. Though each piece of furniture is delivered with an exceptional surface quality, the manufacturing process has been streamlined to allow Cobra’s high rate production methodology to meet customer demands.
The Liana table employs high modulus prepreg for its sleek structure, reinforced with Cobra’s production waste BMC material. Its surface finish combines Hankuk carbon’s precision-woven fabric and Neolith, an artificial marble containing 52 per cent recycled content. The Loop barstool embodies flowing, wind-inspired lines, solidified by Recyclamine resins and Hankuk woven carbon laminates laid over a recyclable PET core, creating both aesthetic elegance and structural durability.
Cobra’s design & development team, established in 2015, has leveraged its expertise in industrial design, composite engineering, and series production techniques to bring this project to life. The use of Recyclamine epoxy resin systems and recycled materials underscores Cobra’s commitment to circular manufacturing principles.
Aditya Birla Group’s advanced Recyclamine technology enables low-energy recycling of resin components, while Cobra’s in-house processes repurpose recovered materials into new composite products. This approach aligns with Cobra’s long-term environmental goals and provides furniture buyers with new design options that use recycled raw materials and that are recyclable at end of life, the release added.
This stylish furniture collection introduces composite artistry to the interior design market, blending aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability. Cobra’s series production capabilities ensure scalability, while its material developments pave the way for a more eco-conscious future in furniture design.
“At Cobra, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. This award win is a testament to our shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of composite design and manufacturing. Together, we have re-imagined what’s possible in furniture design by combining advanced materials, cutting-edge engineering, and a vision for a more sustainable future,” said Danu Chotikapanich, CEO, Cobra.
