AgResearch, New Zealand's largest Crown Research Institute, after acquiring the Lincoln based research & development (R&D) company Canesis Network, has a new company profile and includes details on its new Textiles Group.

Canesis Network, specialist on wool and other innovative textiles, was purchased from Wool Equities Limited (WEL) and the Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand Trust (WRONZ) late last year.

According to AgResearch CEO Dr Andrew West, this unification of wool production, processing and product R&D in one research organization will offer exciting prospects for the industry.

The profile also outlines AgResearch's mission to keep the country prosperous by 2020 and double the production in textile industries along with others while reducing their costs and impacts on the environment.

AgResearch has a remarkable track record of developing products for New Zealand companies that manufacture, and distribute and promote them in the international market.

In 2006 six companies had jointly ventured with AgResearch and had a successful year.
