Unscheduled closures push ACN stocks to the brink

Shortage of ACN stocks has been reported in Asia as a result of unscheduled closure in Asian plants due to mechanical breakdown.

Others plants shut down on account of long pending maintenence.

Sources says that though the prices may be leveled for now, downstream ABS and acrylic fiber markets demand across Asia is yet to make progress.

CPDC's decision to shutdown its 95 kilo ton per annum ACN producing plant is another contributory factor.

The production had reduced dramatically following the CPC output, which adversely affected CPDC's supply of propylene.

ACN prices are stable at present between US $1350 - 1360 per metric ton, but are certainly expected to rise.
