Hope floats for lower propylene rates

Propylene producers are standing firm on their prices that are currently at high levels.

After the closure of key production plants like South Korea's YNCC and Taiwan's CPC, propylene prices soared high and were pegged at US $1000 per metric ton FOB Korea mark.

According to the sources the prices are bound to decline with the increasing supply, as both CPC and YNCC restarted their production.

Anticipated propylene supplies from Japanese firm Nippon Petchem's 150 kilo ton per annum unit, and also the supplies of US origin propylene arriving early February, will help ease regional supply, market sources say.
